Maven Vacation Challenge

Here is my submission for Maven Vacation Challenge for Apr'2021

Under this challenge, participants get Airbnb data across multiple countries. I have to analyze and come up with solutions.

I used power-bi to create the dashboard. The dashboard consists of 4 filters based on room and location. The analysis is focused on pricing and rating. The types of visualization used are as follows:

  1. Property Reviews: I used a matrix table with a heat map to show the highest and lowest rating based on various parameters. Also, users can drill through each property type.

  2. Top 5 Expensive Properties: I used a funnel chart to show the top 5 property types as per their average price paid per user.

  3. Superhost Reviews by Property Type: Superhost is the host that travels more often than other users. Hence a recurring source. Here I clubbed various property types into 5 categories and then calculated the superhost ranking by different parameters and property types.

  4. City Analysis: For city-level information, I calculated the total revenue earned by different cities and which cities are most visited.

The analysis of the data.

1) Hotels rooms are rated least in Airbnb which make sense as the top 5 properties are either private rooms, heritage hotel or boat.

2) The super host rating matter more. Overall rating of cleanliness & value tends to get less rating than other criteria.

3) Entire villa is the most expensive property type in major cities except Capetown, where on average Boat cost more than Villa.

4) European region is filled with the exclusive vacation destination
